Haleakala Cloud Nine | Jake and Mackenzie Surprise Engagement | Maui, HI
Mackenzie had no clue her day would go from shopping to being on Haleakala Cloud Nine. In fact, Jake had a great plan. During the day, he took Mackenzie on a shopping spree. In her mind, this entire Maui vacation was a dream come true. But little did she know what else was to come. This day, Mackenzie thought it was just a fun date on Maui with a trip to Haleakala later. But Jake had something much bigger in mind-his grand Haleakala Cloud Nine surprise engagement.
Two hours or so before the sun set, they drove to Haleakalā National Park-soon where Mackenzie would be on cloud nine.
They didn’t go all the way to the top—just far enough to escape the crowds. Opposite to Maui’s coastal warm weather and palm trees, the mountains were cold. The location where Jack and Mackenzie stopped, the clouds floated eye level. Haleakala felt like another world.
Mackenzie wore a beautiful white flowy dress and a light jean jacket. Jake kept it island casual in an aloha shirt, khaki shorts, and sandals. They were cold, but the kind of cold you don’t really mind. Their smiles, their laughter, and their closeness kept them warm.
With the sun glowing and the clouds drifting as if you could touch them, Jake dropped to one knee for a suprise proposal. Indeed, Mackenzie was surprised—stunned, really. Her face lit up with joy. She said yes without hesitation. Definitely, she was on Haleakala Cloud Nine. Of course, I captured the whole thing against a sky that looked like it was painted. The light, the air, the view—everything was perfect.
After the proposal, they held each other close. They watched the last of the sunlight melt into the clouds. The wind blew her dress and his shirt. But they didn’t care how cold they felt. It was their moment.
All in all, this wasn’t just a proposal on Haleakala Cloud Nine. But it was an adventure. A quiet, beautiful beginning above the clouds.
