Maui Wedding | Top Five Photographer Tips | Jenny Vargas Photography

Aloha, Maui Brides and Grooms. Need help with what to do when getting married in Maui? Look no further because your Maui Wedding Photographer has got you covered. As a Maui wedding photographer, I share my Maui brides and grooms top five photographer tips.

No doubt Maui is one of the best locations in the world to get married. Whether you elope, have a large or small wedding, have a beach wedding, or are on the cliffs of Maui’s west side, it’s essential to understand a few things. As Maui’s tropical wedding photographer, I want to share my top recommendations. Read below.

1. Maui Brides Top Photographer Tips: Hair and Makeup

Most people think Maui is a beach full of resorts. But Maui has an array of mountains, beaches, and agricultural fields. With that said, Maui gets heavy rain, humidity, gusts of winds, and cool and hot temperatures. First, I recommend you have a professional do your hair and makeup. The smudge-free makeup is perfect for humidity and rain. Second, brides wear your hair accordingly to the weather patterns. For instance, if the west side has heavy gusts of wind or is humid, go with a classy, slick back up-do or hair half-back. Of course there is a style for every Maui weather pattern.

2. Maui Grooms Top Photographer Tips: Attire

As mentioned above, Maui weather gets humid, and temperatures can get hot. So, if you are prone to sweating a lot, bring an extra shirt or two. You can change into a fresh shirt if you sweat during the wedding. Another photographer tip is to have a handkerchief to keep the sweat from dripping down your forehead.

3. Maui Brides and Grooms Top Photographer Tips: Wedding Ideas

Don’t be afraid to be creative and make your Maui wedding what you want. Although a traditional wedding is classy, you can make your wedding authentic to you. For instance, one of the best ideas I photographed was a bridge’s floral arrangement from Harry Potter book pages. Another idea was the bride, and groom stood back to back, confessing their love but not seeing each other for their first look. Lastly, another bride and groom didn’t dance for their ceremony. Other creative ideas include having shaved ice instead of cake or fresh coconut water from coconuts for beverages. So, whatever it is that sparks your joy, do it!

4. Maui Brides and Grooms Top Photographer Tips: Shoes

Consider the location and prep the proper footwear. For example, brides, avoid wearing sharp stiletto heels in the sand or the grass for your Maui beach wedding. Ladies, your heels sink in grass and sand. To avoid your heels sinking, opt for wearing clear high heel protectors caps. As for the grooms, wear comfortable shoes or bring an extra pair to change. In my Maui Photographer experience, I’ve seen a lot of uncomfortable narrow-toe pointed shoes. Whether you want to walk and explore Maui or relax by the pool the day after your wedding, wear comfortable shoes at your Maui Wedding.

5. Maui Brides and Grooms Top Photographer Tips: Hydrate and Eat

Being extremely busy during your Maui wedding, it’s common for brides and grooms to forget to eat and drink fluids. It’s vital to remain hydrated. As a Maui Wedding Photographer, I carry a 64oz hydro flask filled with lemon or lime water. I recommend taking a stainless steel bottle of lemon and lime water, so you don’t pass out. Not only does the lemon and lime water keep you hydrated, but it also helps cool your body temperature, high in vitamin C, and quenches your thirst. And please eat. Although your nerves may feel queasy while prepping to say your vows, it’s best to eat something.

Again, my goal as your Maui Wedding Photographer is to make your day as epic as possible. Indeed, a fabulous day you’ll never forget.
