This Surprise Proposal at Haleakala was one of a kind. Standing higher than the clouds, Rachel and Nikko hold each other tight.
Being their Maui Photographer, Nikko’s surprise proposal was unanticipated. I was under the impression I would photograph a couple’s photography session. Then Viola! Without warning, Nikko got on one knee and popped the question. Let’s just say I wasn’t the only one surprised. And YAS! Rachel agreed to spending the rest of her life with Nikko.
When Rachel called to discuss the couple’s photography pictures, she requested two sunset locations.
Firstly, Haleakala National Forest. Secondly, Ironwoods Beach. Because the locations were on opposite sides of the island, we chose two separate dates for photos. I was shocked but grateful they picked two sessions. No doubt, I prepared for the best.
About a year ago, Rachel and Nikko visited Maui. Here, they fell in love with the island’s unique beauty; especially Haleakala National Park. This area was one-of-a-kind. After their previous trip, Haleakala became meaningful to the beautiful couple. So for a second time, Rachel and Nikko chose Maui for their vacation trip.
According to Rachel, they were celebrating a whopping 10-years together. Whoo-hoo!
Of course, this Maui Photographer was excited since it’s rare I visit Haleakala. As seen in the photos, the couple were as bright as the sun. With Haleakala’s temperatures reaching 50 degrees Fahrenheit, Rachel and Nikko were all smiles with a pinch of happy tears. Despite the chilly temperature, Rachel and Nikko thought happy thoughts. All the excitement of love ran deep in their veins, which kept them warm.
Indeed, Haleakala’s unique terrain as a backdrop set a peaceful tone for Rachel and Nikko’s surprise proposal photography session. This trip higher than the clouds, was worth every minute of capturing this gorgeous couple.
All in all, this surprise proposal on Haleakala was astonishing.
