Jessica + Jamie: Maui Engagement Photography

One of my favorite love quotes comes from an opera that the famous Italian poet, Boito, wrote:

“When I saw you, I fell in love. And you smiled because you knew.”

 (Fun fact time! Because I’m a huge history geek. Many people think that this quote comes from William Shakespeare, but it does not. Boito’s work was heavily influenced by the works of Shakespeare, so it’s fairly easy to see how some people have gotten this mixed up over the years).

Anyway, I love this line because it’s just so simple and romantic. Ladies…can you remember the way your husbands or boyfriends looked at you for the first time? And you just KNEW he was into you and you were already planning to lock that down?! Yeah, me too. When I met Jessica and Jamie, this quote popped into my head. The way these two looked at each other was so darn cute! 

This adorable couple flew to Maui all the way from Canada. They were seeking a nice, relaxing vacation destination and ended up here (great choice, guys). In fact, they loved Maui SO much that they decided to return next summer to get married here! How awesome is that?! I can already picture the gorgeous details of their wedding (and I’m secretly hoping they contact me to photograph them again)!

For this session, we traveled to the South side of Maui. The sunsets on this side of the island are phenomenal and I was able to capture several amazing beach portraits. White Rock beach is set away from the crowded Wailea resorts, so I love this location for its privacy. There is a wide stretch of sand and a nice mix of lava rocks and palm trees that make up a beautiful background. 

Jessica treated herself by getting her makeup done before our shoot, but even so, she looked effortlessly gorgeous. And Jamie looked very handsome in his clean cut outfits. It was a beautiful evening and I wish these two all the best!

Congratulations again Jessica and Jamie! It was such a pleasure meeting the both of you!
