Casey + Sydney: Maui Engagement Photography

Surprise proposals get me EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I mean, what woman wouldn’t want to be whisked away to an island paradise for vacation…only to be surprised by the man of her dreams as he gets down on one knee to pop the most important question ever?! It’s all just so romantic!

Casey sent me a very detailed email of his and Sydney’s love story beforehand so I could get a feel of their relationship. They met in 8th grade and went on to attend the same performing arts high school in Phoenix, AZ. He mentioned how smart and talented he thought she was and also shared that Sydney turned him down when he first asked her out during their freshman year. After taking some time to “grow up,” Sydney finally agreed to a first date. And the rest is pretty much history! These two have experienced so much within the 8 years of being together. They’ve traveled to Paris and stood at the top of the Eiffel Tower, woken up at 3am to catch the sunrise on Haleakala, cheered each other on through pharmacy and medical school, and so much more!

To prepare Sydney for what he was hoping would be one of the greatest days of her life, Casey arranged for her to get her hair and makeup done before the session. Then, we headed to “Secret Beach.” This beach is in Makena, located on the South side of Maui. It’s hidden away among some residential properties and it is one of the most beautiful spots for photos! If you go at the right time, you can get the entire beach to yourself!

The sunset that evening was stunning. But Casey and Sydney were the real show stoppers. They both looked picture-perfect! When Casey’s plan started to unfold and he got down to propose, Sydney was so surprised! It was such a beautiful moment. Words can’t describe how happy the both of them looked when Sydney said, “YES!”
